The autumn birdwatching weeks in southern Portugal ended mid-November. In total, more than 150 species were spotted. Highlights were definitely the flock of Vultures (4 species) soaring above our heads at Sagres and the many Black Storks, the big quantity of Glossy Ibis, good views of Great Bustards, Spanish Imperial Eagle and Purple Swamphens, many species of waders and duck seen at this time of the year. There are still vacancies for the spring tours, have a look at Week tours | A Rocha Life | A ROCHA Portugal

This is a unique opportunity to have an exciting time as part of a research expedition looking into the impacts of climate change on the smallest (and cutest) Atlantic seabird - the European Storm-Petrel (stormie for short). Anyone can join, no previous experience needed and you are guaranteed to have an amazing time with the stormies, while enjoying the sun and the beautiful food in the south of Portugal.
    The dates are :
    Team 1: 30th May - 8th June 2016
    Team 2: 13th - 22nd June 2016
    Team 3: 22nd June - 1st July 2016

    And the prices:
    Early bird (before 10th January 2016) - £600 / 760 €
    Normal price - £670 / 850 €
Prices include: travel expenses*, insurance, accommodation & food for 9 nights / 10 days, and all the expenses related to fieldwork (transport, equipment, etc).

Please contact [email protected] for more details.

    * Travel expenses are guaranteed departing from London and arriving at Faro (departures from other UK airports can be considered upon request but no guarantees offered). This price package is subject to availability. Bookings made later than 15th February might have adjustment to the price due to flight expenses. If you wish to stay in Portugal for a longer period of time, outside the project, let us know so that we can discuss flight arrangements accordingly.
