Default Free Android App - Nature Explorer

For those of you with Android phones, here's a superb little wildlife app, it's called Nature Explorer by Avisoft and is completely free. It offers illustrations of species, sounds and descriptions, but not only of birds, also Butterflies and Insects, plus sections on plant life.

You will need to download the APK and the Data directory, both can be downloaded from HERE

To install Nature Explorer on your phone, go to Android Market find and install Easy Installer, upload both the data directory and the APK to your memory card and search for it with the Easy Installer, select and install, as easy as that.

Give it a try, you'll love it.

Thanks for that, Rolf! My mobile is too simple for that, but will pass the info on to Mike.

I'm sure he will like that!

    Hello Rolf
Thanks for the help registering. I tried to download Nature Explorer using my Galaxy Tab as per your instructions, but although it seemed to be completely downloaded, when I clicked on the downloaded file I got a message saying file could not be opened. I wonder whether you might have any idea what might be wrong? It does look like a very useful application and I would enjoy having it. Thanks

Hi Lynne, glad you've made it into the forum.

What you have to do is, load the database directory onto your memory card (after unzipping it) and also the .APK file. Most important though is to download from the Android Market, or Play Store (as it's now stupidly called), "Easy Installer", once installed, you can click on it and point it to the APK file and it'll install..

PS. Envious on your Galaxy Tab, would really like to play with one, just too big for me to carry around in my pocket for work.
