    Post Seabird death chemical to be banned

    Wildlife charities have welcomed the International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) swift action to ban ships across the world from discharging all forms of high viscosity polyisobutylene (PIB) into the sea during tank cleaning operations. PIB was the chemical responsible for the deaths of over 4000 seabirds on the south west coast earlier this year.

    That's awful! Pleased something is being done about it!

    We went out on a fishing boat from Ayr once. It was Fishermen's Gala day there, so they were giving free trips. That was wonderful - but nearing the harbour on the homeward journey, one fisherman put all the empty drinks can and crisp bags into a carrier bag and dumped them overboard!

    Those who depend on the sea for their livelihood need to look after it with more respect!
