Every winter, as the temperature drops and the snow begins to fall, snowmen appear in gardens and parks across the country. Built by the young and old alike, snowmen come in many shapes and sizes but traditionally they sport carrot noses, button eyes and twigs for arms. Although thought of as stationary beings, snowmen have been known to fly by walking in the air.

Snowmen (Homo meltus), such as Frosty, are often stylishly adorned with a hat and scarf to keep off the chill, but they also help them blend in with their human cousins. Alas a snowman’s time on Earth is all too short; as the temperature warms up they gradually melt from view for another year.
