    Default Can any one ID this bird please

    The hole head looks to be dark and the tail is also dark

    The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

    I would say you have a female house sparrow here Chocky, the size, colour, shape and notice the goldy colour stripe behind the eye

    If it had been a female Chaffinch Chocky it would have had a white stripe in it's wing. Nice shots btw

    Here is the female chaffinch to help compare the wings and notice no eye stripe in line with the eye

    most of my efforts are digi-scoped, using an opticron hr66 scope, pentax optio v15 digital camera and homemade adaptor.+ a panasonic lumix fz28
