this one was at Wargrave, not really sure what it depicts, not visible from any road, but probably from the river..

Here is a Vane I saw at Topsham today on a private house. I have uploaded it in a separate post because there are 5 shots of it. Would you believe , the wind blew it right round whilst I was snapping away.
    A most unusual weather vane

    Thanks Rolf.
I thought it was nice. The house is along the estuary and Topsham is a tiny little town on the Exe estuary, all boats and jetties And Dutch houses from its maritime past

Here are some more weather vanes I collected in Topsham today
The first one is a little different. It was atop a ship's (Large Yacht) mast. As it appears to have two metal connectors I think it is for measuring weather rather than just wind direction but I'm not sure.
The second one appears to have lost control of Easterly winds The third looks like it is a home made out of drainpipes (not sure if it is a working vane) and the last one looks like a home made and rather battered

Here are a couple I found at Topsham that I missed last week. The first on is on the church which can't be seen from the main street. I wondered and went into the grounds as one can get down to the docks from there an low.................... rather High and behold there was a vane on the tower round the back. I think the directions maybe in Latin

This lead me to the next vane that can only be seen from the back of the church on a little sort of River cafe . It appears to have lost it's directions but still rotates

The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

Here are a couple of vanes from France, one on the Church at Hartencourt, thought it was worth showing the whole tower, as it was unusual, the second one is from Saint Germain le Gaillard and the third from Serez.
