    Beryl this is a genuine question and not to be seen as being clever......Why is it called White-tailed Bumble Bee when it appears to be anything but white?

    You can;'t see the tail in that photo. He has it tucked under

    Here is a buff tail. His band behind the thorax is yellow same colour as his second band and his tail is longer
    So the first is white tailed
    Second is Buff tailed
    Third is red taile
    The red tailed is black and only has a red tail band
