    Default Waterfowl ID Please

    Hi

I am new on here and was wondering if anyone could identify this bird for me.

It is dark brown on colour and has a purple sheen on the body and green sheen on the head like a mallard but is only a bit smallet than a canada goose.

OK, welcome to the forum, have moved your pictures from the gallery to this thread.

I believe that Beryl has the identification for you.

    Default Thanks

    Thanks for the ID.

There is only one of these on this lake and it turned up only a few months ago. I have been wondering what it was ever since.

I havent seen any others in any other lakes around here.

    Cheers
    Paul

There are about a dozen or more at Owlish and of course thee interbreed so there are some very large mallard half breads too. They are lovely ducks I believe they are called Runners
