Olympus E-30, Sigma 50-500mm Lens, Sigma 150mm Macro lens, Zuiko 70-300mm lens, Sigma 50mm F1,4 lens, Extension tube, 1.4x tele-converter, Carbon FibreTripod, Monopod, Vanguard Binoculars, Celestron 80F-ED Scope, Remembird recorder.

    Default Linnets and Goldfinches

Had an hour or so walking across the fields today and came across an area which had been set aside for wildlife.

Unfortunately I had only taken my 300mm lens with me as it was overcast, so couldn't make the best of the flocks of small birds in the long undergrowth.

I took a few photos, a couple were clear enough to identify a flock of Linnets, the Goldfinches and Chaffinches were much easier to identify, but I'm sure I heard some Greenfinches and possibly another species. Must go back with the long lens and try for some better photos.

The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

Yes well spotted rolf, this area set aside for wildlife obviously works, bet you can't wait to go back

I can't, fortunately it is only a 20 minute walk from my house, through the woods and up a farmer's track. Shame I haven't got my hide yet, as I could have pitched it within yards of the area and got some great shots.

Hey rolf, maybe you should put a hide on your Christmas list to Santa
