A bit unusual the two together as you say and they are known to fight to the death as I'm sure you know Beryl.

Yes. Have seen them fight though not to the kill T.G.
I think these were more interested in the seed I had for them than a fight

Yours may have paired up already, Beryl. 2 of 'ours' are still quarrelling and expending so much energy doing so that they're not taking time to feed!

While Miss R. enjoys the grated cheese, etc., those two Romeos are chasing each other as if their lives depednded on it. I tried to take some film today, but they just wouldn't stay in the one area long enough for that. One was trying to chase the other out of the garden, while the second didn't seem to be taking the hint!

Here are the pair which 'made it' last year!

(Sorry my pics aren't as good as yours!)

That's an old pic but you may be right as Like Pete says . Robins are not sociable birds and kill each other over territory. I uploaded a sequence in the forum of a pare of robins fighting whilst the female watched
Yours is a lovey pic BTW

The equipment I use is a Canon 30D with Sigma 50-500mm lens. I also have a garden hide from which I take most of my pictures.

Nice pics here. When I first started photography I managed to capture one robin feeding another on the bird bath. I'll try and dig it out......... My Robins totally dislike Dunnocks

Oh the Robins and Dunnocks tolerate each other fairly wll her but I think it's the wild bird seed that takes their mind off territory

Well my Robins must have a low tolerance level cause they always chase the poor Dunnocks away yet they never chase any other bird away.......strange

That's an incredibly beautiful photo, Babs!

No such luck with our lot yet. The males were still quarrelling over the female yesterday! (I hope you can see the two males on the fence here - ready for another face-off and chase around the trellis! The well-mannered female is sitting on the pond filter box at bottom left.)

However, I think we have 'lift off' with another romance. - These two Nuthatches seem to be 'an item'!

    Nice photos all.

I've noticed with my Nuthatches, that they seem to turn up in two's most of the year, but not sure whether they are siblings or pairs.
