Olympus E-30, Sigma 50-500mm Lens, Sigma 150mm Macro lens, Zuiko 70-300mm lens, Sigma 50mm F1,4 lens, Extension tube, 1.4x tele-converter, Carbon FibreTripod, Monopod, Vanguard Binoculars, Celestron 80F-ED Scope, Remembird recorder.

    Default Went looking for wrens

Came in from work and walked over to the copse opposite, it was a little overcast, but managed to get a couple of snaps. Had to use a high ISO to get the shutter speed up to something decent as the camera was hand held, so the photos are not needle sharp, but they don't look too bad.

Well done rolf, lovely photos. Wrens are not a easy bird to capture. I am lucky to have a pair of Wrens nesting in a yucca tree in my garden. Here is one doing his morning call

Found this wren on the edge of the cemetery at Abingdon, next to where I was working, didn't have time to wait around, but caught a couple of shots, second one not too sharp though.

Wish I'd had more time, as there were several there, I could hear loads of calls.

I tried photgraphing a wren last year and all I got was its tail disappearing out of the photo.

Nice captures. Hard to find them sitting still for long.
Funnily, I did my basic training for the WRNS at Burghfiild just out side Reading
I can't sing like those above though.

Just down the road from me, not sure whether it's there now though, was it called HMS Dauntless?

Yes.. That is what it was called and dauntless it was too. I went on from there to RNAS Culdrose.
HMS Dauntless is no longer. and of course the WRNS are no longer. I was a real wren , they are well................. I don't know but I wouldn't join today.
I don't know where they do their training. I really enjoyed the wrens. I was a staff car driver after I left Culdrosre. So you see mu=y name hasthe letters WRNS after it. Don't use it though, not that pompous
