Default Digital video camera as sound recorder

I was playing with my digital video camera and found it records wav files .It only uses SD cars but I don't think the battery last for very long 1 hour if that.
I really must try it out the thing is I'm in town most of the time and there is usually road works if not noisy traffic as the roads are right beside the walks and trans run along the estuary so it's always noisy

Yes, good idea Chocky, give it a go, you can filter out much of the background noise using Audacity or similar.

I'll try.
I notice with my new camcorder it is so sensitive it picks up even buzzing from the electric fences at the zoo and if too near the railway it has a humming in the back ground from the electric line more likely vibrations because the electicity is on the train unlike the underground tube . I don't know how to filter that. This also has an extremely loud sound track that one can't even turn down so it picks up all and sundries. I might ask for some help on it if needed.
I'll be off out soon.Think I'll go to the top of the nature walk up in the top teer . I might pick up the Chiff Chaff what I'd really like to get it the Greater Spotted Woodpecker it sort of makes a clacking sound. Think I'll take it to matt's and see if I can pick up the Green Woodpecker, it is always in his garden (Except when I'm there)

I managed to record two wav files and have converted them to MP3.
I think one is a Chaffinch and the other might be a Robin. I couldn't see the birds ad have cut out my watch bleep bleep too.

Not too good though are they. Thought it was my first attempt. Think I'll use the camcorder next time and edit out the visual on ArcSoft . I'll get a louder recording
That part of the walk is just by a road. People in hobnail boots kept clod hopping by and kicking the leaves then away go the birds. There is no ware quiet in Exmouth. I couldn't believe when I arrive up there a flippin' drain cleaner was sucking up the drainage Just my luck. Still I did well with the butterfly.
Thanks for cleaning them. Did you identify them ?

Just thought. I have some videos of birds singing . A juvenile godfinch , ablack bird and one or two others I could edit out the visual and convert the sound track to MP3 with Cool Edit Pro 2.
Then I would know which bird is singing

This is a Juvenile goldfinch. I have separated the audio from the video
In the background is an excavator(would you believe I manage topick th right days)
Can your program eradicate the excavator?
I dare not touch Audacity. It nearly killd my PC when I tried using it. I don't know what i did wrong .
