Great shot Babs, I've noticed that they appear to kill them first as well, as my Robins put them down and nip them a few times.
Thanks rolf, yes I have noticed the Robin gets some in his mouth and bangs the top of the dish with them and usually flys off, sometimes he will eat one or two himself. I have noticed the Great Tit though takes one to a branch eats half himself and then feeds the other half to the juvenile:)
