...and even more snow
This was my journey home last night. It was a 2 mile walk along a main road. What I didn't take was a shot of a completely empty road (I couldn't be bothered to get the camera out again (whilst trying to shelter it of course) .
The second shot shows one lad pushing another in a shopping trolley! Everyone seemed really quite happy (you can see 2 girls posing for a shot with smiles in one shot - even those of us walking home, some even with Christmas shopping to carry. I suppose it helped that it wasn't very cold (although because of that the snow was melting on us so we were a little soggy).
In middle of town the traffic was just stopped, but for part of the way on the main road out it was actually empty and eerily quiet for 6 in the evening (our road are always bumper to bumper), although I only have a shot of half the road empty... mind you, the other side wasn't moving at all. Just out of the centre is a small hill (Castle Hill) - so small that it wasn't much of an issue for us on foot... but the police were out pushing cars up shouting "don't stop at the red lights, DON'T STOP at the red lights..." - not something you hear often from a policeman :)
Lastly is an atmospheric shot of a man crossing the park - dark and no tripod (and rushing to get a shot before I got the camera wet), so it's not clear.. but I like it.

Great shots there Louise. :-cthumb I really like the last one :)

Thanks, Beryl - it was a surprisingly enjoyable evening, despite the pain in the legs, we were laughing all the way home (my boyfriend was in Reading, so we went together)! Mind you, lots of people don't live in the town and were stuck, so apparently the shopping centre kept open for people to shelter overnight, and the John Lewis store opened its bed department!!! On the whole, there was a nice atmosphere... although I bet if it happened too much people would change their attitude ;)

Love the photos Louise, glad to see that the Police have finally come around to my way of thinking on traffic lights. :-rofl

LOL - so that 's where they got the idea from :)

Those are really really nice photos. You've captured the atmosphere spot on there!

A good record of the pre-Christmas weather, Louise!
I particularly like 1 and 3 - both would make great impressionist-style paintings!:-cthumb

Thanks everyone... and the last one of the lone man has reached #34 in the Flickr top 500 photos of the day :)

Well done, it's actually got more to it than is immediately apparent, I can see why it's popular.:)
