Icebergs in Teesdale!
Ive spent a lovely relaxing weekend exploring Teesdale. At Langdon Beck we ran across this rather bizarre sight. The river was chocked with little icebergs! Several hundred yards of it was like this. I *think* the ice has broken off from where its collected on the river during the start of the thaw and got trapped behind the farm ford.

That's certainly a lot of ice, good photos Ross.

Plenty of ice for you G&T there :D

Nice captures :)
Fascinating

Amazing sight, Ross!
I suppose the rich would have collected that in the 18th and 19th centuries to keep the salmon, game and venison chilled in their ice houses. (Not sure if they'd have used it in G&Ts though!:4-bounce:)
You must keep these pics as a reminder of this incredible winter.:) Let's hope there's not more to come....

More winter pics - this time just up the road from the previous series. The location is a heavily frozen Cow Green Reservoir.
This is only the second time in about 10 years Ive seen it frozen up in February

(Actually its Stanhope ford and its always closed during the winter - but dont tell anyone)

Great photos Ross, bet there's always some idiot who thinks they can make it across though.:)

:-rolling
Theres a barrier across the road just out of shot to the right of the pic to stop any reckless idiots. Its been a long time since I saw the ford open - due to the wet summer it was shut on all our visits to the area last year.
Ive been across it in low flow times a couple of times.
