Streamlined beauty
Back in April I got down to York for a few days to have another look around the rail museum and then on the return trip drop into Shildon to pay our last respects to the 2 Yank A4s before they were shipped home.
In York we wandered in through the doors and found this red beauty next to the entrance. Its 46229 Duchess of Hamilton in the most gorgeous red 1930s style streamlining The second pic is detail of the buffer area - it just blew me away with the attention to detail, considering this would barely be seen most of the time..

I still prefer the A4 streamliners though! :D
At Shildon pictured are Dominion of Canada & Dwight. Both now safely returned to their American homes so this shot is now completely impossible :-doh

As a streamlined bonus I spotted A4 Union of South Africa at York. Not part of the official displays, she was parked outside on railtour duties and was completely missed by most of the visitors! Not a bad pic considering it was taken through a rather grubby window and there is a bloody great security fence in the way!
