Is no. 4 Hornet? I know they love nesting in or near orchards in France. We once encountered a nest inside a hollow pear tree at our gite. Guess what part of the garden we avoided after that!:)
Yes it is Catherine, the darks coloured Bees are Carpenter Bees, quite large, the first Butterfly is a female Wall Butterfly, second obviously a Red Admiral,think the Dragonfly is a Broad-bodied Chaser, but will have to check.:)
The ladybird was a bit of an odd one, will have to do some research. Also saw a couple of Scarce Swallowtails, but they were perched high in the conifers, did get an iffy photo of one in flight.
