Here is (a very late ) Monday Bird
Interesting one, not seen one of these before, in fact not seen any of the Grouse family, think this is a Red Grouse, Lagopus lagopus.:)
Actually no, had a rethink, reckon it's a Ptarmigan, Lagopus muta.
Actually Yes :D
Dalripa Willow Ptarmigan Lagopus lagopus
Good finding !
Here is a special one:conf40:
I'll have a pop at Great Black-backed Gull, Larus marinus.:)
A nice try Rolf but as I said in the post, this is a special one:)
Can't find any other lookalikes beside the Lesser Black-backed Gull, Larus fuscus and the Southern hemisphere Kelp Gull Larus dominicanus, which is unlikely.:)
Been reading about this bird and mostly they say it is hard to see the difference between the Larus Fuscus and this one.
To make a long story short I will spill the beans (and also present a new pic)
Ljusmantlad silltrut Light-mantled Fuscus Gull Larus fuscus graellsii/intermedius/heuglini
A more common one
Well, it is more common for sure ! ??
I'll go for Ruff Philomachus pugnax.
Good finding Rolf :D
Brushane Ruff Philomachus pugnax:thumbsup:
Tuesday bird !
A nice good looking one :D
Not best at these, they all look too simialr, I'll have a bash as Curlew Sandpiper, Calidris ferruginea.
Yes, they all look--a-like :)
Spovsnäppa Curlew Sandpiper Calidris ferruginea
Well done !
Here is one that doesn´t look like something else :D
Not one I've seen, as we don't get them here, but I'll take a guess at Red-footed Falcon, Falco vespertinus.
Looks like it has red foots for sure but, perhgas, he is only cold ?:D so it is not a Vesper :conf40:
It is not a common bird ! We don´t see too many here in Sweden.
A Merlin - Falco columbarius?
Well, I have to try!:)
A good try !
You better look in the Harrier section;)
Right, I'll try once more before Rolf has a look in...;)
Hen Harrier (f) - Circus cyaneus?
Well shows what I know about Harriers.:) A second survey of my bird guide puts it as Montague's Harrier, Circus pygargus.
Hrrumph!:crying: Bronchitis or not, he has done it again!:-doh
(Off to check on that Montagu's bird.....)
Nice doing there :D
Ängshök Montagu´s Harrier Circus pygargus
Well done
Back to work so here is the next in line :)
OK, here goes with Golden Plover, beautiful little birds. Pluvialis apricaria
Yes, a very nice little bird !
Ljungpipare European Golden Plover Pluvialis apricaria
Well done !
Here is a Weekender for You all :D
Great Shearwater - Puffinus gravis?
Looks like a Skua, perhaps Arctic Skua? Stercorarius parasiticus.
Can´t deny that Rolf:D
Kustlabb Parasitic Skua Stercorarius parasiticus
Good finding !
It´s Monday so here we go !
Ringed Plover - Charadrius hiaticula?
It surely must be, Crister?:)
Certainly looks like one Catherine.:)
As You guys are so sure :) what can I do  but say, of course.
Större strandpipare Common Ringed Plover Charadrius hiaticula
Good find !
Yippee!
I am right for once!:-excited
Thank you, guys!:)
Yes, get this one as well :D
Is it a young Grey Wagtail - Motacilla cinerea?
(I suggest 'young' as it doesn't seem to have much yellow colouring!)
