Chew valley
Bristol Water plc - Leisure
I grew up going out to this place and its brilliant, theres lots of local myths surounding this place. On dark winter nights the bells toll from under the water!!
They do visitor permits for birdwatching, or yearly permits and i havent ever used them but it looks well organised with parking near hides.
Anyone else been there? I am thinking of going there for a day once me new lens appears!!!

Looks really good Billy, not too long a drive either.

Where is it? I've not heard of that place... of course, being a Scot is my excuse, Billy!;)
Like the shape of the lake though, especially with all those inlets where birds can congregate or shelter.
Looking forward to the pics you get with that new lens!:)

Looks good. I Looked it up and apparently there are reports of a ghostly girl making her way to the lake as well as the ghostly bells ringing
Over 280 types of birds have been recorded there, and in a big storm in 1968, it rose by 19 inches in 12 hours!!!!
It sounds like a very good area for wildlife.

the bells ive heard, well spooky.. there are places you can park next to good watching areas without going into the hide... I will upload pictures from my old lappy to show you what i saw... shame though ordered friday, they only decided to send lens today to arrive tommorrow approx... ohh and some hides you need more than 500 to see things when the water is low...
