Been on Travels again this time to Southern France. Cevennes national Park.

They bring back so many memories - not just of travelling though the Cevennes so many years ago - but of a particularly amazing holiday in a gite on the eastern Lot Valley near there. The gorges, farming, farm buildings and countryside are quite similar.
The second last pic, is that a type of Swallowtail Butterfly? (I see there's one called a Zebra Swallowtail...?)

Hi Catherine, have checked on internet and id say it one of the Tiger Swallowtails. as they have blue rather than red spots. There are 3 pictures of them shown tho the other 2 are front views. The one u mention has damage on its tail. Maybe from a Bird, thinking the spots are eyes has tried to grab it by the head, and the Butterfly has escaped. Hence name Swallow-Tail.
Cevennes is Massive and Magical and at this time of year, one can drive for hours and not see another car! Great for Safari type holiday on the move. :thumbsup:
Think the Swallowtail is the Scarce Swallowtail, just about making an appearance in Cernay now, saw a couple yesterday.:)
