Yes it is Louise, nice one. Water looks quite high there.
Looks can be deceptive. Where the Kennet River briefly parts from the canal, it's so low the water is clear enough (and shallow enough) to see the bottom. The ducks can muddy the water by dipping their heads - they don't need to actually dive down. You can see the normal level mark on the wall here http://www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk/a...-19-lbcrop.jpg

I managed to brace myself against the lock - it always helps when you are a little shaky :)
