views from the trough of bowland, lancashire

the trough of bowland is one of my favourite places.... and said to be one of the queens also!! stunning scenery and equally stunning wildlife. its home to hen harrier, red grouse, has ring ousel in summer and also has a breeding pair of eagle owls. this moorland habitat draws lots of visitors. its looks lovely in the sun, but can be a very unforgiving place in bad weather conditions.

no, rolf.. i was meaning the walk up to the eagle owl site. there are roads right through the trough... with some steep gradients!! it is a popular route with cyclists. though i would fancy the hills myself!!. the walk to the owl site is reached by a very good pathway. i was meaning the terrain could be treacherous, if you went un-prepared. it is a lovely part of britain, though, and i know pete will back me up on that

Ah thanks Andy, it's an area I hope to visit properly in the near future, I have some friends up that way an would like to continue up to the lakes and the Scottish West coast.
