Post Revealed: the nation's top 40 most in need of help

    News from the RSPB site

More and more bird species are facing an uncertain future. The RSPB has today identified the top 100 species in the UK that most need help to maintain their status. Forty of these have been prioritised for immediate action by the RSPB, but the society is today asking for help from government, industry, other charities and the public to provide a future for these birds.

I read this item via the Independent - they described the Red Kite as "..enjoying a fragile recovery" and I thought - "that's not how it looks from here, they seem to be spreading like wildfire".
When I read the RSPB they say "...where populations are in recovery but they need continued help for this recovery to be maintained" - that sounds more like it!

I sometimes despair of newspaper reporting, they grasp the general idea, but then often, due to lack of research and knowledge on the subject, come to the wrong conclusion.

They are also very often incorrect in the detail of the story and what they don't know, they make up.
