    after a long wait I took this KF yesterday at the Bittern hide - so pleased

    Well done Ann, nice shot. Last time I was in the Bittern hide was for the scope demonstration and didn't get to look out very much, whereabouts is that perch?

    Thanks Ann, will hopefully get some time down there soon, did drop in on the Lea Farm hide last Sunday for an hour or so and then dropped into Bittern hide, but very little showing.

    Some good news about KF numbers here :

    In an annual survey of wildlife spotted around rivers and canals for British Waterways, the number of kingfishers seen by members of the public between March and September has risen 217% to 596, despite fears many of the birds might not survive last winter's icy spell.

    Best View Ever or Photo of Kingfisher Today (Same Place,Same Bird?) Just Posed for us for about 5 minutes on the Perches! Never Seen the Like of Such Behavior! They useually just a Blur!

    Great photos form you too, Vastra!

    As Louise says, they look so different from the front. From the side they look 'all head' with a very little body, yet from the front the head is narrow and the body looks big!
