On my Guernsey trip last week.
I love Greenshanks as they are quite shy birds and don't pester the others.
The Turnstone reflects well there too!

Thanks, Joe, but I still don't think the bird in the second pic is a Greenshank. It is much too dark and has more definite markings.

Could it be a Sandpiper by any chance??
Catherine, having looked carefully at the rest of the shots of that bird , I reckon that you are correct (a common sandpiper)
I do have a blurred shot of it in flight(not good enough to show here) which shows the white wingbar on the under wing.
I must now go and try to find one down at Keyhaven. It looks a lovely bird!
