Could someone ID this Butterfly for me please
It's a small Blue Babs, Cupidus minimus, apparently the smallest British Butterfly.
Thanks very much for that rolf, it was determined not to open it's wings. took the photo at Southend, Kintyre.
Sorry I lie Babs, just checked again and although it seems a little washed out colour wise, it is actually a male Common Blue Polyomatus icarus, the difference is the coloured spots near the edge of the wings, very pale gold in this case, but there nonetheless.
I'll get this right one day.
No problem rolf, thanks for the positive ID. It was nice to see a couple of different butterflies
Coo, it's had a bit of a chunk taken out, hasn't it?
It has. It's been fighting or caught in a bush. They seam to manage though
I noticed that but I wasn't 100% seeing that I hadn't seen one before
Still a very good shot.Babs. We can't ll be perfect. Some times I think I have a chunk missing
( but I'm still gorgeous )
Just 'a' chunk I think it's a few
Well................. Maybe
.. a few chunks short of a chocolate bar?
I don't touch the stuff.
