I captured this little chaptoday near the Lower Harlsdon Farm along the Exe Estuary.
He has a cute little twittering song. I have him on camcorder so his song can be heard. But i don't know What sort of bird and he has a finch like tail.

Here is another photo from another angle when he hopped twigs. Might it be a Dunnock?

Yes. I have to to sort it out and see what you think when I send it. You may have to make it louder I can't remember if there are workmen and trucks in the background. Thwy are building a cycle track along the estuary. I took over 300 photos today and am gradually getting there. Have sent my Flock of Pin0tails to the local rag. Those ducks come all the way from America I think. I'll have a look at it now.

Managed to get some of the noise out. You're right, doesn't sound typical of a Dunnock, but I still think it is.

Yes It has the blue-ish collar doesn't it. The video is a little blurred in places so I have had to doctor it. but he twitters at the end.
There is nothing else he could be but a Dunnock having gone through the little brown birds.
I think Some in between bits need cutting out.Ill try now it's clean with Cool Edit Pro

I have a question with regard to the first image (Chocky they are both superb) and having never previously heard the Dunnock song.

The question is....would you not have made a different sort of noise, had you sat on all those thorny bits?

Neither would I Chocky, however I have backed into them, when trying to compose a shot. The same as I have fallen into water more than once. I appear to be becoming a master of "Just one more step backwards" Then its either Ouch, Splash or how long has that (deleted word) Wasps nest been there.

No. I tend to trip over logs and fall in trenches looking up at the trees.
The first time I saw a wood pecker I tripped over a fallen tree and there was a sort of trench the other side . I did get an awful shock did this. I got the bird though and here he is. I think he is also worthy of the bird forum now I have found him

    Yes indeed he is.

The worst and funniest time I took a step too many backwards was at the Hamlet of Keld high in the North Pennines.I was soaked from head to foot. The wind was blowing a gale...wind and cold water are not a good combination for a human being....I am 40 miles from home soaking wet and freezing and whats in the car park....a toilet block with showers (honest) its on the Coast to Coast walk and it cost no more than whatever you put in the Honesty box for parking your car. I had no dry clothes and so wrapped a seat cover around my lower half...I looked like Hiyawatha.
