With lunch...........Possibly a Godwit
Captured at Bowling Green marsh flying across the estuary towards the Hide.
The last one he's flying out of view
Good series of photos Beryl, I always feel sorry for the poor victim though.
I know. Poor little thing.I was hoping it would get away. It didn't.
I met some bird watchers at the hide about half an hour later and I mentioned it and they told me it was Peregrine and that they had seen him eating the Godwit
Did your stuff again with this one Beryl. Exciting if unfortunate for the 'godwit' but nature knows no sympathy or consideration for others when it comes to picking up a meal.
By the way Beryl......looks like a Black-tailed Godwit with the straight long bill, the Bar-tailed Godwit has a slightly upturned bill plus some other features which seperate the two but are not available in your 'no time to mess about' images......well done.
Pete.
Thank you Pete.
Yes. I knew it was a black tailed as you say a straight bill. Again as you say I was so sort of 'gob smacked' I stood there gauping at it and saying even out loud to my self "It's carrying another bird" then realised I gotta be quick here and managed 6 shots , the last being so far off it's better as complete frame
