Sandwich Terns resting up as they will do on many occasions at a little place called Knott End just up the coast from better known Blackpool, en route to their winter quarters in Africa......WOW!
Pete.
Well spotted Pete. I Have never seen a tern
I'm sorry to hear you say you never saw a 'tern' Beryl. I am sure there is somewhere closer to home for you to see them, but I do know Sandwich/Common/and Little Terns were all seen today at Dawlish Warren across the Exe estuary from you. You would be more than very well rewarded for a day there around this time of the year when these birds and many other species are migrating through places like Dawlish.
Pete.
I may well have seen them and not realised.
Nice capture Pete. That reminds me, haven't been down to the Thatcham Reed beds and lakes for ages, must go and see the Common Tern colony again.
Yes, you must see the Common Tern colony Rolf.
I love the 'terns' brilliant birds. No breeders round our way but these at Knott End are annual around this time of the year on migration and I look forward to seeing them each time.
Pete.
Very nice capture.
Nice shot - I like the crop - it really works well, highlights the positioning of the birds.
