Is it song a Thrush ?
The streak of white under the tale would perhaps make it a Mistle Thrush Beryl.
Thing is it has spearhead /arrow shaped spots and the Mistle thrush has round spots and lighter wings where the song thrush has spear head /arrow shaped spots.
I think it is probably a young Song thrush. I haven't seen a Fieldfare , only a picture so I don't know the shape of it's spots
Here is another shot. I think this shows it is a Song Thrush
Definitely not a fieldfare.
No.
It's a young song Thrush . The spots are very distinctive. Definite arrows. I was thrown out by the two tone colouring and never having seen a Fieldfare wondered.
Thanks any how Rolf
Young Song Thrush Beryl as you rightly say. The image shows some excellent detail including the give away 'arrowhead' spots and the 'buff' upper chest and its a smaller bird than the Mistle Thrush.
Pete.
Thanks Pete and Rolf
I think the Mistle Thrush stands more upright as well doesn't it?
A bit like a Lancaster bomber and a Shackleton Both look the same until close inspection. One stand and the other sits
