Just taking a quick nap.
Ok, not so quick - he has been there for at least half an hour, and he's still there. I'm busy doing housework.. it's alright for some!
Lovely shot! I like Wood Pigeons - they're such big softies, aren't they?
Last night we were sitting at dinner when a very loud bang was heard, then another - and another.. We got quite a shock!
A Sparrowhawk (f) had chased two Wood Pigeons which, not looking where they were going, hit the conservatory window.
I rose quickly to check on the Wood Pigeons. The Sparrowhawk was still chasing them. One of the two banged into the window again and I really thought it had been injured. So did the Sparrowhawk, which swooped down after it - until she saw me standing there!
The BOP then shot off over the back fence while the two Wood Pigeons disappeared over the side one. The windows were splattered with bird poo, so I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the birds had been injured.
I've never seen a Sparrowhawk go for birds as large as Wood Pigeons before - and before their 'argument' with the conservatory windows, these two seem to have been in very good health! Perhaps she had young to feed, or was just desperate?
Nice picture Louise.
I think the Female will take a pigeon Catherine, but the Woodies are very big.
Lovely big soft cuddly lump there Louise
Nice shot
louise, your wood pigeon would be tired if it lived on my local park!!!! my pet westie spends ages trying to catch them....but to no avail thankfully. the woodies have to keep mobile!!!
