    Default Sparrowhawk behaviour at Lavell's lake

    Was sat in the Bittern Hide on Sunday afternoon and noticed a Sparrowhawk male fly across the lake and land amongst the reeds 100m or so away.

    It was apparently waiting in the tall reeds for something to happen along.

    I saw it re-emerge suddenly and took a couple of quick photos, not sure what it had captured, but it can't have been very big.

    That's a great photo of the Sparrowhawk, but it's difficult to ID the prey.

    It looks like a yellowish fish actually - but I'm sure it isn't!

    How very disappointing! I was hoping you'd recorded something unusual!

    The only other thing (slightly) visible, is a greyish shadow under his feet - so maybe it was just a small rodent?

    It does look like a fish, pity that it's just foliage An interesting bit of activity none the less.

    Have looked at my other shots in detail, but none of them show much detail below the grass.

    This shot shows a dark object in front of the claws.
