Default Combe gibbet, unproductive search for Ring Ouzel

Went up to Combe Gibbet yesterday PM, hopefully to see the Ring Ouzel which had been spotted on the NE slope of the Gibbet hill, only to find the slope was in use by the paragliders, so no Ouzel.

The sun had by this time disappeared behind the clouds and the wind was biting, had to put the hood of my jacket up to shield my ears. Had a stroll over the downs and saw lots of Skylarks, but all at a distance and spent an hour or so watching a couple of Kestrels hunting a large field.

No good photos, but was a nice afternoon.

Sorry that the paragliders spoiled things for you, Rolf, but glad you had a pleasant afternoon despite the Ring Ouzel's 'no show'.

Love the startled expression of that Skylark in the second pic. With his crest and tail raised, he doesn't look too pleased about something!

LOL yes, they do have a startled expression. There were loads there, could hear but not see them.
