The Swallows Nest
Hi
I am not sure I am in the correct place as I am new to this bird watching stuff.
A swallow has decided to setup nest over a power supply panel where I work. It was the first time I saw a nest up close so I decided to setup a live feed from the nest. The feed can be viewed here:

She has five eggs three of which hatched during the weekend. Hope you guys enjoy.

No thanks. I have a little counter on the page and I would like to see how many people are actually looking at the birds. Its fascinating stuff watching them!

Your'e 'live feed' is superb 'willboss' I found it difficult to 'leave' the nest.......excellent stuff!

I've just been watching this and really feel for the one at the bottom of the pile. It's so weighed down by the others that it just can't move enough to open its mouth up and get fed, and it's only going to get weaker. Poor little thing - but then that's nature.
Could use an update here 'willboss' I've just viewed the web-cam and cannot make out any life in the nest.

Just caught a feeding incident Pete, all still very much alive and hungry.

That really is amazing, all five mouths wide open and begging now, yet not long ago the nest looked deserted......really.

fantastic willboss, just had a look at your live stream and saw both adult swallows come to the nest to feed.

I have just taken my 'umpteenth' look at this fascinating continuous film of the 'Swallows Nest' and it is positively superb......I am enthralled.
But there is one little dear at the back of the nest who appears to be begging, I do hope the poor mite isn't going hungry.

They tend to open their mouths at the slightest noise. They seem ok.
There is a short video in the forum of a mother swallow feeding her chicks that I made last summer
Now may be the time to put another camera up to film the nest exits.

When the birds are ready to leave the nest, all the camera pointing inside the nest will see is their backs as they leave. A camera placed away from the nest would capture them leaving.

I have just visited the 'Swallows Nest' and continue to be enthralled by what I see.
We must now expect the young to have left the nest by Tuesday next (June 17) at the latest. We are now around mid-way between them leaving 17 - 24 days from hatching which according to 'willboss' was on 24/25 May.
Be prepared......you may find them having fledged when you next visit the site.

That's really some thing .
Another visit to the 'Swallows Nest' included a feed. Quite amazing how five young birds all get more or less equally fed to advance growth not to mention how essential it is they DO all get fed for survival.
I reckon the nest will be empty (fledged) on the first view Wednesday morning if not before.

Unfortunately that wont be possible. The nest is immediately to your left at head level once you enter the room. The room has been totally off limits since their arrival.
I have all the feed recorded and I will put together a time line and upload it to the page.
All is looking very well there. Theyhave grown so

The nest is empty the Swallows have fledged but apparently return at night to sleep.
I have really enjoyed watching these birds a fascinating study of progess in the nest......amazing stuff.
