Haven't got the sigma teleconverter Mike, but have the Olympus 1.4x and it has not been a great success on my 50-500 Bigma, just slows it down too much and is pretty much impossible to get a crisp image from. It is however not bad on my 70-300 lens.

You might have problems with auto focus, and of course the aperture will be reduced so that shutter speeds will need to be slower.. I've been using the same lens for about a year now and have found that that it is a bit slow at the 500 end forcing me to up the ISO to compensate.

thanks joe, I feel the same, dunno wether to go the whole hog and buy new or look out for a used one? my af seems to work ok at full length 500mm(6.3) not tried it at f8 though. although it does seem to pull slightly to the left when focusing hand held. still ex value for the money! I must say I nearly always pull the length back to about 480mm or there abouts. regards mike

Hi all, just recieved the sigma 1.4 converter for my sima 150-500X 50d combo, only tried it indoors as I didnt get home till 1800hrs from work. Initial findings are that it now doent seem to auto focus, the cameras motor just seems to run. manual is ok, obviously! will post further report when Ive had it out side, incase anyone's interested. mike. ps the converter was bought from denver colarado usa. its pristine not a mark on it.
